As soon as the temperature rises, there’s really only one right answer to the question ‘What shall we do tonight?’: Off to the beer garden! Whether it’s a light lager or a fizzy soft drink: we’ve listed the most beautiful, relaxed and atmospheric spots within a ten-kilometre radius of Münster.

RIGHT BY THE WATER

// Hafenhalle

Right in the heart of the promenade, with views of boats, ships and the purple sky over the Alps: the Hafenhalle is a real classic. Here you can enjoy freshly tapped beer (six varieties!), hearty snacks and regional specialities such as zander or lentils with spätzle. Perfect for anyone who loves the lively harbour atmosphere but still wants to sit back and relax.

Ideal for: after-work drinks, visitors from out of town, long summer evenings with Aperol & Co.

// Rothaus Beer Garden at the Steigenberger Inselhotel

Just a few steps from the cathedral towards the lake lies this beer garden, offering stunning views of the lake, the Imperia statue and the Säntis mountain. Pretzels, beer and the legendary Inselbier cocktail are served here in a slightly more upmarket yet still very relaxed atmosphere. Particularly lovely: the view of the striking townhouse façades along Seestraße and the countless swans in the Konstanz funnel.

// Constanzer Wirtshaus

Situated right on the Seerhein, with a large terrace and a relaxing view of the water: the Constanzer Wirtshaus combines the classic pub atmosphere with an urban summer vibe. Here you can sit in the front row overlooking the Rhine, watch the boats go by and order a cold beer or a glass of wine to go with it. The cuisine is down-to-earth with a modern twist – perfect for long evenings that might just end up lasting a little longer than planned.

// Seekiste

Casual, sociable and right by the water: The Seekiste is located in the immediate vicinity of the Bodenseeforum and the new water bus landing stage – and is one of those spots where there’s always something going on when the weather’s good. Between sunset and the hustle and bustle of the Seerhein, you can enjoy fish and chips, burgers or – depending on the season – hearty specialities from the alpine hut.

Ideal for: a spontaneous stop after work, a good meeting point before heading into town or for a night out

// Die Bleiche

Further up the Seerhein, in a slightly quieter spot, you’ll find Die Bleiche. It combines a relaxed beer garden atmosphere in a green setting with regional cuisine and even a popular weekday lunch buffet. Dog owners are, by the way, very welcome here.

Ideal for: lunch in the countryside or dinner with a view of the Rhine

OUT IN THE COUNTRYSIDE

// St. Katharina Beer Garden

A forest clearing, the scent of barbecues and rustic wooden benches – the St. Katharina Beer Garden is a real destination in its own right, which you can combine perfectly with a short walk through the Uniwald. A particular highlight: the family-friendly atmosphere, with play areas and adventure activities (Mainau Climbing Park) nearby. In summer, there are also events here such as ‘Beergarden Unplugged’ with live concerts, big bands and more.

// Waldhaus Jakob Restaurant

Situated on the Hörnle, with panoramic views of the lake and the Alps depending on where you sit – here you’ll have a bit more privacy. Especially when you’re lounging in the cosy lounge or daybed pods. The spacious beer garden offers plenty of room amongst old trees and serves creative, down-to-earth cuisine in a pleasantly quiet atmosphere.

Ideal for: straight after a visit to the lido, family celebrations, a stop for refreshments after a Sunday stroll – and a relaxed bus ride back

// Ziegelhofstüble

Just outside the town – between Dingelsdorf and Wallhausen – but wonderfully peaceful: the cosy Ziegelhofstüble impresses with its home-style cooking, green surroundings and a playground next door. Fresh sausage salad, cheese spaetzle or crispy pike-perch – the food here tastes just like home. Tip: Take a lovely bike ride out here – the food will taste twice as good!

// Burghof Wallhausen

Another destination for your tour: the secluded Burghof lies above Wallhausen, in the heart of the forest. Here, things become quieter, more unspoilt – almost like a little journey back in time. The historic building, the Knights’ Hall and the rustic snack menu (often featuring game or classic roast chicken) make a visit here something special.

Head up to the stylish panoramic terrace with your shopping bags: at Glorious Garden, a night out or a Saturday evening quickly turns into a mini-break. Amidst large parasols and boho-chic décor, you can enjoy beer, bubbly or trendy cocktails with views over the rooftops, the lake and the Alps. Add a DJ set in the background – here, Konstanz feels quite vibrant. Definitely a ‘beer garden’ with a difference.
