Sustainability in dealing with resources and the environment is a matter of course at LAGO. With services such as the green electricity filling station or the rental cargo bikes, environmental protection is evident at LAGO. But we also pay attention to sustainability behind the scenes: For example, our modern lighting concept uses about 40 percent less electricity than the previous one. We have also been certified to the BREEAM standard for green building assessment and ensure that key partner companies follow the same path. The holding company, facility management, cleaning service and security service provider are certified to ISO 14.001 and ISO 9.001 and are thus also committed to high quality standards and sustainable optimization.

Our LAGO bees: Ecological beekeeping on the LAGO roof

In Union Investment, LAGO has a very active owner that stands for sustainable growth, future viability, and a sense of responsibility and repeatedly implements this in concrete projects: For example, since June 2020, two bee colonies have inhabited so-called “bee boxes” that were set up on the roof of LAGO. The focus is on ecological beekeeping as a contribution to the protection of biodiversity. An experienced beekeeper takes care of the bees all year round. On the roof of LAGO, bees find the best conditions: The useful insects live on 10,600 square meters of generously greened roof area. The bees find other sources of pollen and nectar in their wide catchment area of about 50 square kilometers around LAGO. The “BienenBox” mimics the natural living quarters of bees as best as possible and facilitates natural honeycomb construction. The bees also overwinter on their own honey. Only the surplus is harvested.
