AVE THE DATES – SUMMER EDITION
Summer at last! And it doesn’t just bring sun, ice cream and bathing fun, but also a whole range of cool events. Between Stadtgarten, Seepromenade and Münsterplatz, there’s plenty to celebrate, marvel at and browse this year. Here are our first event tips for the hot days in June and July. So: grab your calendar, make a note of the events & enjoy the summer.
Open See Festival
Three days, one stage, 14 bands and artists: the Open See Festival once again brings regional newcomers and international acts to the Stadtgarten. The diverse program ranges from indie pop and club sounds to trance-like Afro-folk jazz. During the breaks, DJ sets, delicious food stalls and drinks bars ensure a festival feeling throughout. The festival is relaxed, inclusive and surrounded by greenery – right by the lake. Thanks to funding from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry and the Constance Cultural Office, admission is free. Our tip: bring a picnic blanket and relax to the beats.

International Lake Constance Week
When over 160 sailing yachts and 15 rowing eights glide through the water at the same time, it’s International Lake Constance Week again. This major maritime event now has a tradition of over 100 years. In addition to exciting regattas, there are spectacular water ski shows, a market along the harbor promenade, music, good food and various attractions for young and old. In the evening, the boats light up as they come in, which looks like a magical sea of lights when viewed from the shore.

Summer theater open air
A classic in the open air: Theater Konstanz presents Brecht’s “Threepenny Opera” on Münsterplatz, accompanied live by musicians from the Lake Constance Philharmonic Orchestra. Christina Rast stages Mackie Messer & Co. in a modern way and with a large ensemble. The story? Dark, evil and, above all, quite topical – including a surprising ending. The performances begin at dusk, so it’s best to pack cozy blankets if you want to be swept away by the social criticism under the stars and spotlights.

Cross-border 24-hour flea market in Constance & Kreuzlingen
Night owls watch out: This flea market never sleeps. You can browse and haggle for a whole 24 hours. The sale starts in Kreuzlingen on Saturday at 4 pm, in Constance from 5 or 6 pm and lasts until 5 pm on Sunday. The market connects the two countries over almost 9 kilometers with around 1,000 stalls. Whether records, vintage fashion, rarities or curiosities – anyone who likes to go on a treasure hunt will find what they are looking for here. Street music, cabaret and lots of treats make the stroll perfect. If you’re browsing late: don’t forget your flashlight!

Culture galore and open air: during the Kultursommer, the Neuwerk courtyard becomes a stage for concerts, open-air cinema and theater, poetry slams and party nights. A different highlight takes place here almost every day or evening – whether it’s guitar rock, blockbusters or a prompt competition. Many organizers from Constance join forces every year to promote the local cultural scene and create spaces for encounters. Make a note of your favorite events now and get your tickets early, they often sell out very quickly.

ARTe Art Fair
ARTe Konstanz is a contemporary art fair with around 60 participating galleries and artists from Germany and neighboring countries. At the Bodenseeforum, you can not only marvel at paintings, but also sculptures, photographs and installations. If you like, you can buy the exhibited art directly on site or simply be inspired, take part in free guided tours – and round it all off with fine cuisine on the sun terrace. Online tickets are available at a discount.
